Summary:
The Facilities Technician will provide essential support to the facilities maintenance team, performing routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of building systems and equipment. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to learn on the job, with hands-on experience in a variety of maintenance tasks including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general facility repairs. You will work under the supervision of more experienced technicians, assisting with daily operations and supporting the upkeep of the building’s infrastructure.
The Facilities Technician is expected to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and develop skills and knowledge related to facilities maintenance. You will be part of a collaborative team that strives to maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for all occupants.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of basic building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing filters, bulbs, and light ballasts, and conducting inspections of building systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Respond to maintenance requests, ensuring that work orders are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning HVAC coils, replacing air filters, and checking plumbing systems for leaks or damage.
- Perform minor repairs, including patching holes in walls, painting surfaces, and making basic carpentry repairs.
- Follow established safety guidelines and protocols to ensure that all tasks are performed safely and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring they are cleaned, stored properly, and ready for use.
- Assist with the setting up and maintenance of office furniture, equipment, and other facility-related needs as requested.
- Respond to on-call maintenance needs as required, including after-hours and weekend shifts, to address urgent issues.
- Ensure that the work area is kept clean and organized and assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the facility as needed.
- Learn and apply basic techniques for lock and key maintenance, including the duplication of keys and assisting with lock repairs as directed by senior technicians.
- Work with the maintenance team to ensure timely completion of facility maintenance projects and tasks.
- Track and document maintenance activities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate records of all work performed.
- Assist with inventory management by keeping track of supplies and materials used for repairs and maintenance.
- Assist senior technicians in larger repair and upgrading projects, learning new skills and techniques for the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or senior staff.
Qualifications:
- Must have facilities maintenance experience.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; problem solving ability.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR.
- Basic knowledge of standard janitorial duties, cleaning techniques, products and equipment preferred.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, maintain a positive attitude at all times, and be able to assist the team/department to complete goals.
- Ability to operate hand tools appropriate to the application.
- Ability to react quickly and appropriately under pressure in emergency situations with a cool head and professionalism.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English; Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, supervisors and coworkers.
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing customer experience.
- Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as but not limited to safety data sheets (SDS), operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, etc.
- Must be able to understand and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Job Requirements:
- Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job site.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma/GED required OR equivalent work experience in leiu of.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- Extensive use of hands, reaching over and bending.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Work in varying temperature environments (internal and external parts of the building).
- May require frequent travel between Medallion sites; responsible for providing own transportation or if approved, driving a company vehicle.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM // WEEKENDS OFF!!!
