JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Orthopaedic Institute Practice Supervisor and Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the clinical staff and the physician leadership, the Hospital Assistant II assists in the delivery of care to patients in an ambulatory multi-specialty group practice.  Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary and specialty care services provided to patients within the practice.  S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.  Exemplary customer service is essential.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Practice Supervisor/Manager.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS –
Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience. – This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. – Ability to work in busy, team-oriented environment. – Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population. – Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. – Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). – Willingness to learn new task. – Ability to organize and effectively set priorities. – Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate to the responsibilities of the job. – High School Diploma or GED certificate. – Prior experience in medical office environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION –
Graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting program – Phlebotomy certification – 3 months of experience REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS – Certified from a approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of training and experience – BLS card from the American Heart Association POPULATIONS SERVED Child Adolescent Adult Geriatric
License / Certification
