About the Role
The Property Management Instructor will collaborate with a team of fellow instructors specializing in training across four distinct career domains: healthcare, construction, information technology and culinary arts.
We are seeking a responsible and highly qualified Instructor able to proficiently assess, strategize, execute, teach, and evaluate educational programs within Property Management. Your primary duty will involve delivering instruction for the Property Management course.
This is a full-time role, encompassing both teaching hours and preparation time. The work arrangement for this position is hybrid, with 2 days that will be remote. This position will be in located in Oakland, CA.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Evaluate and document student progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained. Provide constructive feedback to help students enhance their skills and understanding of property management
Design, develop, and instruct a comprehensive and up-to-date curriculum for a Property Management course. Ensure that the curriculum aligns with industry standards, regulations, and needs of the housing community. Create a curriculum to give students a strong understanding about the responsibilities, functions, and skills involved in property management
Conduct engaging and effective classroom lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practical sessions on property and housing management
Create and maintain accurate records, attendance, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
Teach in alignment with JobTrain’s Mission, Values, and School-Wide Learning Objectives
Maintain professional growth through attendance at appropriate seminars, professional development, membership in professional organizations, and by connecting with community resources.
Attend faculty and staff meetings in addition to on-site professional development workshops.
Implement and adhere to all school policies.
Participate in graduation ceremonies.
Qualifications

Experience
Property management experience required, including deep knowledge of the various aspects of property management, including leasing, tenant relations, maintenance, financial management, and legal compliance.
HUD or HUD VASH experience preferred; experience with navigating Section 8 and affordable housing processes
Experience working closely with companies who hire property management staff, and the ability to help promote the program and connect graduates to employment and opportunities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Our Property Management Instructor is crucial in educating individuals who want to enter the property management field or professionals looking to enhance their skills. To be an effective property management instructor, one should possess a combination of skills and expertise in various areas:
Knowledge of Property Management: Instructors should have a deep understanding of property management principles, including leasing, maintenance, tenant relations, and legal regulations.
Prior teaching, group facilitation or training experience are valuable assets for this position.
Multicultural Competence: Property management often involves working with diverse populations. Instructors should be sensitive to cultural differences and promote diversity and inclusion.
Knowledge of California Laws and Regulations: Since property management practices and regulations vary by state, the instructor should have a deep understanding of state-specific laws and regulations governing property management, including tenant-landlord laws, rent control ordinances, fair housing laws, eviction procedures, and property maintenance code requirements.
Industry certifications for residential or commercial rental properties are preferred but not required: Certified Property Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) or Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) from the National Apartment Association (NAA).
Patience, empathy, responsiveness, and adaptability to modify teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and clients experiencing barriers to employment.
Proficiency in using instructional technology and tools to enhance the learning experience.
Must be positive, responsive, and a motivational role model for clients.
Strong computer skills with competence in Microsoft 365 platform including Word, Excel and Outlook email. Experience using web applications and online meeting tools.
Able to provide training on work order ticketing systems (ex: ARCHIBUS, CMMS, or ServiceNow).
Demonstrated ability to be dependable / reliable.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Effective property management instructors should blend these skills and expertise to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that prepares students for successful careers in property management.
Additionally, staying updated with industry developments is crucial for providing valuable and relevant instruction.

Compensation and Benefits
JobTrain offers a competitive salary, numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90%, vision and dental, flex spending and HSA programs, 401K with a 5% match after joining, EAP and emergency services, vacation time, paid sick leave, retirement program employer match, long-term disability and life insurance. We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.
The targeted pay range for this position is 70,000 – $82,409.60 annually
While the full range for this role is listed above, the hiring range is based off years of experience in line with Instructor Career Ladder.
