JobTrain is an organization on the move. We are delivering best-in-class outcomes, increasing our reach by expanding regionally, and we have committed to an ambitious new expanded mission to help our community to advance beyond the initial job placement, providing career advancement programming to help them achieve “full economic mobility.”
Born out of the civil rights movement in 1965, we’ve been servicing literally anyone and everyone who journeys through our doors at one of our (now) six, Bay Area career or training centers. We create an environment and workspace where our staff reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, fostering a safe and welcoming place for our clients. We deliver on some of the best outcomes in the workforce development field, with a vision to provide our clients with the long-term support they need to achieve full economic mobility.
We are growing, and we need your help!
About the Department and Role
JobTrain seeks an experienced career coach to help build and run a new career coaching service for our Health Care Career Pathway alumni. The program will help them gain the skills and support they need to advance their careers and obtain economic mobility.
Our alumni have successfully completed our 3 month training program and secured employment, often overcoming barriers along the way. Your job will be to work with them as they continue their education and/or further their careers. You will be expected to meet with alumni/students in person and virtually. You will report to the manager of career development.
This is a full-time hybrid position at our corporate headquarters in Menlo Park working 2 days in our offices and 3 days from home. During the initial training period, this role may require more frequent in-office days.
Responsibilities:
Program. You’ll work closely with a cross functional team, including job counselors and the impact team, to build out a program that supports our alumni as they plan their careers. You’ll be able to leverage our prototype research and findings about clients and their needs, work with topic specific consultants, and you’ll have the opportunity to utilize different recruitment strategies and engagement tactics within the program.
Coaching. Provide 1 on 1 support for alumni, which includes helping them plan their career paths, providing local career resources and information about their chosen field, addressing personal and life factors, and helping them build their own networks. You’ll also keep workers confident and accountable to their goals.
Outcomes.
Working closely with the Career Development team and other teams to measure outputs and outcomes to determine effectiveness of the program. Use outcomes from micro-experiments to improve the service.
Codification. Work with the Manager of Career Development to document the process so that new team members can easily get up to speed.
All interactions and client updates will be documented in Salesforce for proper data collection.
