nora-sobolovIn a special to the Sacramento Bee, JobTrain President and CEO, Nora Sobolov writes about “What Feds Could Do to Expand Job Training and Reduce Poverty”.  Ms. Sobolov begins by telling the story of Vanessa Robles who “worked 10 hours a day at a commercial laundry company and took classes at a community college. After being laid off, she found it difficult to find another job with her limited skills and experience, and she had to drop out of college.”

She goes on to discuss the results of a new JobTrain report that “demonstrates how the federal government potentially makes hundreds of thousands of people ineligible for training and other services that would lead to self-sufficiency because its poverty level doesn’t take the full cost of living into account.”
